All members start with one hosting order.
If you would like to add a web site to your existing hosting order, you are in the right place.
If you would like to add an additional hosting order or web site, please see our page on adding a new hosting order.
While logged into the members control panel, you can click on the "Web Configuration" tab to see if your hosting order has a web site:
In the screenshot above, no web site is listed.
Click "Add a new item" to add one:
In the Domain Names boxes, enter the domain names that the web site will use. For example, if joined May First and specified mygroup.org
as your domain name, you would enter both mygroup.org
and www.mygroup.org
. Or, if you don't have a domain name, you might enter mygroup.mayfirst.org
.
Each domain name must be entered in the DNS tab of your hosting order or it will not be accepted (even if the domain name is managed via a different service). If you are not sure what domain names to use, click the DNS tab of the hosting order. Any domain name of the type "A" or "Alias" can be entered for your web configuration. If your domain name is missing from the DNS tab, you can add it.
We recommend that all members choose "https enabled" for encryption to ensure that all traffic to and from your web site is encrypted. However, if you have not yet registered your domain name or your domain name is not yet pointing to our servers, saving your web configuration item will fail. In that case, use "http only" until your domain name is properly functioning.
Once you have created your web site, you should be able to type your domain name into your browser and land on a page that typically says something like "Welcome to the future home of your web site":
You have a web site, but there's nothing in it yet.
You can fix that in one of two ways.
The advanced items allow you to customize other aspects of your web site, including how many PHP processes, the amount of memory allocated and other settings.
