Membership email contacts determine who controls your membership and services. Make sure they are accurate and trusted.
When you first register your membership, the contact name and email you provide become the initial membership contact. This contact is granted both Administrative and Technical privileges, giving them full authority to manage your membership.
Both Administrative and Technical contacts can make essential changes, but their roles and responsibilities differ. You can always update and add additional contacts.
Administrative contacts control the membership itself.
They receive emails with:
Any email listed as an Administrative contact effectively controls the membership.
Losing access to your Administrative contact email can leave you permanently locked out.
Assign contacts emails carefully. The Administrative contact email is our only verification method. May First staff will not resolve disputes over the control and ownership of any May First membership.
Technical contacts are our first line of contact regarding accounts and digital services created through the May First control panel
Technical contact emails receive:
Whenever a password reset is requested, all Technical contacts receive the reset link.
Because of this level of access, only trusted people should be Technical contacts.
Technical contacts can only be added or updated by Administrative contacts.
Administrative contacts receive membership renewal emails with a link to update membership details, including contact information.
You can also contact May First and request a new update link be sent to the Administrative contact(s) on file.
Always keep your membership contacts up to date, and ensure at least one Administrative and Technical contact uses an external email address.
Do not set your only Administrative and Technical contacts to email addresses managed inside your own May First control panel. If that email is disabled or misconfigured in any way you could lose the ability to manage your membership.
