MX records are for identifying where email for this domain should be delivered. Follow our guide on adding DNS entries to your control panel. Some additional information to keep in mind:
- The FQDN should always be your "root" domain - e.g. example.org, you do not need an MX record for www.example.org
- You can have one MX record for your domain, or more than one. It depends on the mail provider.
- The server name should be the name of the server that will receive email on your behalf. To deliver email to May First it should be a.mx.mayfirst.org, b.mx.mayfirst.org. and c.mx.mayfirst.org (one MX record for each server). NOTE: If your MX record is currently pointing to a May First server that is not a.mx.mayfirst.org, b.mx.mayfirst.org or c.mx.mayfirst.org, please check with support before changing it.
- Distance means which server is chosen first. Follow the directions from your mail provider to choose the right "Distance" value. For May First, the three servers are randomly given distances of 10, 20, or 30 to help balance the load.
